hiyas steve on the drawing it looks to be a fairing, ill dig out the writeup that went with the drawing and see if theres any further information

It was indeed a fairing. The bomb bay ends just in front of the rear fins of the missile, so the top two fins at the rear were folded to nearly the horizontal as well. Similar drawing on p307 of my book.
