Avro 730 returns!

The first model I did for Fantastic Plastic back in 2004 was the British Avro 730 bomber in 1/144 scale. Last year I was asked to re-visit the model. I completely rescribed it, added cockpit, landing gear and bomb bay details, and just generally improved the hell out of it. The first time 'round, my skills were a little rusty; the new version is a great improvement. It is now available for purchase from Fantastic Plastic.

Oh Man - if only the hanger doors at Woodford really looked like that, not to mention the blue sky above them. 

It looks like a very nice kit. In all honesty I can't even vaguely afford it, but I appreciate it's existence.

Hello to all,
               May I first say I am very impressed by this website and those that put forward 'what ifs'.

I hope that someone may help me with a query I have on the Avro 730. The Fantastic Plastic Models link indicates that the aircraft would have a crew of two. Reading the book Project Cancelled indicates that there was planned to be a crew of three. I understand that as this project evolved there may well have been a reduction in crew numbers but the instrument diagram in the above mentioned book would indicate there would be very little room 'up front' for the navigator's requirements. Could someone suggest how it was proposed to fitout the cockpit?  Thank you for your time.

After Avro won the contract the Govt revised the specs to include bombing capability amongst others so a Weight saving and redesign program was put in hand, this included reducing crew to two and placing them side by side and reducing/relocating some of their equipment.

(Avro had a fire in the 60's which destroyed alot of their own paperwork on the project thus much of the data now used to illustrate the project actually stem from the submitted proposal documents rather than company records which would cover work done prior to cancellation)

This is one of those kits I wish was done in 1/72 scale.
