Vulcan over the Beach & other stuff

Southport flypast this coming weekend, and at (almost) the last minute the Vulcan has been persuaded to come - Sunday only scheduled for 1600. Last year it was 'on hold' over Formby village, using the rail station as its visual cue. That's just a quarter-of-a-mile from Schloss Jackson. Can't be that lucky two years running, can I

23rd October - a Friday - forty plus aircraft flying south to north along the River Mersey to celebrate 90yrs of the FAA, HMS Illustrious and QM2 will be in the river also. Should be quite an afternoon, assuming the weather co-operates

Keep your eyes peeled. Only saw the Vulcan once myself, years ago (Humberside Airport show IIRC) & only got to see a single pass as he developed a fault. Did manage to hear the noise from the famous 'pull up' though!

Well, I did see the Vulcan fly as a young boy - I remember my uncle taking me in the other ranks mess room at Waddington. Unfortunately, I couldn't take my eyes off one of the safety posters showing the mangled hand of someone who hadn't taken off their wedding ring when working on an engine......

I did however get a very cool yellow t-shirt with a green "IX" bat on the chest, and the squadrons unofficial motto "There's always bloody something"

You've reminded me now nev, I did used to see them flying when very young. Sometimes over the house, sometimes we'd go watch them at the offshore range at RAF Cowden. You'd also get A-10's doing gunnery practice, we used to think it was great, hearing the hogs 'fart'! Either that or NARSES had let go in Cheltnam....

Croydon, not Cheltnam! Both begin with a C & both somwhere below Birmingham, same difference. He might be on his travels.
