Motoring journalist James May, from the BBC Top Gear program, did a series of TV documentaries about the moon missions to coincide with the anniversary. As part of this project, he went as near to space as he could get, in a U2, courtesy of the USAF. It's a beautiful piece of film:

I watched this on the BBC iPlayer a little while back. Very good indeed.

As an aside, the two-seater U-2 is a weird-looking aircraft.
