Here is my current S.H.A.D.O build, which, is a bit different from the other hypersonic/trans-atmospheric stuff I have been building.
But non the less unusual, SHADO as all other military forces needed a rescue aircraft, this needed to be rapidly deployed, faster than a helicopter, and needed to be able to take off and land vertically. The air vehicle as it is known is quite large, so as to accommodate everything needed to do its job sufficiently. There is a crew of 5, 3 up front in the all glass hi-vision cockpit, and 2 winch/rescue men in the rear cabin. there is also seating for 7 people and enough room for 3 stretchers. The Retriever is powered by 7 engines, 1 turbo jet for forward flight, 4 fuselage mounted lift/take off jets, and 2 wing tip mounted high flow vortex lift jets with vectoring nozzles. These engines are used primarily for hovering, as the exhaust wash from them is 75% cooler than that from the fuselage mounted lift jets, ideal for rescue missions when hovering is necessary. The retriever is also unarmed, and unlike its other 3 sister craft still wears some HiViz markings, these will probably be removed during its upcoming service and upgrade, as the weary looking paint work will be stripped off and a new coat of low viz grey applied all over.
Here are my build pics, and some of the finished craft. It has been built to 1/72nd scale.
Oh, can you guess what its made from??

Cheers,
Chris

Very Nnice Chris indeed.
OK What is in it, well i think I detect Osprey wings, and possibly Arado 234 fuselage.
"Does not matter, Mister Faulty" the end result is great.

Well done.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

Oh, that's nice!  Quite a departure from your other S.H.A.D.O builds, looks great!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Thanks for the positive comments guy's, this thing turned out better than envisaged, as it is mostly a bits bin special, only the fuselage and rear landing gear, oh and the canopy are from the donor kit.
Cheers,
Chris.

Quite the beastie you did there, Chris old chap - the tinted glass is just absolutely the cherry on top too.

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?
