When I first started exploring the site I stumbled upon the profile section....in there I saw a WW2 Corsair in the black/green Russian colours....this was the inspiration for this kit..........obviously I didn't have an F4U in my stash n the only 1/72 I could find in the many modelzones near me was a Revell one with 2x20mm cannon in each wing which I think is a later than WW2 aircraft (I think??).....but I had a Revell 1/72 P47.....so I chose this and modelled it on the La5/7 colours....with help from some decals from the spares box......be gentle....its my first time.....

A Russian ace in the making Ivan Stolinchka (?) managed to aquire a P47 after it had (possibly) landed after a ferry flight in exchange for some boxes of Vodka......it was repainted and he used it sucessfully to hunt down Jabo's over the Eastern front....he would finish the war with 28 personal kills,19 group kills and 2xHSU

Most escellent!
And never let 'it was from a later time period' stop you - this is Whiffery! The space-time continuum means nothing to us! Apart from it being a conveneint JMN froth causing mechanism.
There are no good kits, bad kits or grail kits, just kitbash fodder.

Quotemanaged to aquire a P47 after it had (possibly) landed after a ferry flight in exchange for some boxes of Vodka.

No need - Russia was actually supplied some P-47s (195) under Lend Lease:

Nice model though.  The scheme suits it - any chance of bigger pics?

I really wanna get a an F4U n do the green/black scheme...re bigger pics....I am a techf***wit and had trouble loading these from my camera phone...I had to make them smaller to allow them to load...thats the way I understood it from the caption at the bottom when trying to add them to the post them....I will try harder next time

Very nice - fits right in with the SIGs display theme this year as well.

The P-47 looks good, Army of One.

I was in Cabo San Lucas, at the tip of the Baja California peninsula, and there was a restaurant/bar named "Cabo Wabo".

What if they "sponsored" a ground-attack plane, would that be a ......?
My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

Aweome build.  There is still more room in the "lend-lease" realm of whiffery.  I've been thinking of lend-lease hellcats in the far east, that sort of thing.

As for ground attack, I'm pretty sure that they got some B-25/A-20's, didn't they???

Army of One

Again thanks for the comments.....Yes the Russians got the Havoc and Mitchell....reverse enginered the B-29 as well......I think a P-39 would look cool with red stars......but the La 5/7 scheme or the black/green......mmmmm now theres a thought....

Would make for a great GB methinks.

Nice model - it suits that colour scheme.

"Red Stars" Vol 4 by Geust and Petrov has a (very poor quality) photo on page 82 of a razorback P-47D of the 255 IAP of the Soviet Navy's Northern Fleet in what appears to be two tone grey La-7 style camouflage. A colour profile is also on page 213 of the book.
