since unemployment depression is slowly starting to set in again, i, decided to fight it with some styrene weapons  ;D
for a change i decided to build a number of Luft46 planes, starting with a PM 1/72 Messerschmitt P-1111.
im gonna build this one OOB, in the same colors as the boxart (as its already a what-if).

i already started on the cockpit, i found over on youtube in a building report that the model requires some styrene card in the intakes. i took the advise and fitted 2 small strips, i took a finner sheet (about 0.3mm thick) as these are more flexible and easier to fit. im also gonna visit the spare pilots academy and see if i can find a lucky one to sit in the cockpit.

more updates later  ;D

I'll be following this one, Nils, because I've got one of these and immediately noticed the intake problem. Since the intakes are rounded, I was considering a length half-tube to form the inner face of the duct.

UPDATE:

im building this model in 2 halves, first thing i made was the bottom half, this consists of the cockpit & landing gear. the came the top half, the top of the wings have been painted green, tomorrow im gonna tape up the parts for the splinter camo'd wings, for the green ringworm camo on the main fuselage im thinking of doing that free hand with a fine brush.

the canopy has also been painted and the tape has now been removed.
to add some detail to the finished model, im gonna ad some extra decals i got left over from a revell FW flitzer.
should be done tomorrownight, after witch im gonna start with a Lippish P13a

I'm sorry, but you'll have to get one if you want to follow this thread. Unless you've looked at the gaping holes where the intake walls should be, sucked air through your teeth and then put it firmly back on the shelf, you just won't appreciate it properly.... ;)

I think you did a couple....one with the whitewash like sea king n wessex and the other two tone green....yes I did, mine will prob be an a wrap round two tone green...prob a diffrent load out n I'm thinking of sliding doors but as someone pointed out I'll have to try and incorporate a step of some sort...I'm gonna put some winches on as well.....I like the look of the Blackhawk DAP.....something along those lines.....with a Kamov KA50 night hunter as escort........might be a delay though as the house move may happen sooner than expected.....then I get my loft manspace!!!!!!

seems a lot of you guys got this one  ;D

anyway if you want to build this one, i might want to add that your gonna need lots of putty, as it shows some gaps.
the nosewheel is also a nightmare, the hole in the bottom is to small, so i used a thumbtack to make it a bit bigger, seems to have solved it.
if possible, some extra weight in the nose is also required if your building it with wheels down.

anyway i got an update.

last night i masked of some of the wing surface for the splinter camo, brown paint was applied soon after, after that the tape war removed and the paintjob was a succes.

the morning the 2 halves were joined together and gaps were PSR'd, the styrene strips were cut off just right, and painting the inside of the intakes black seemed the best thing to do. final touches and decals were added this morning and now the complete model is sitting in clamps until the glue and paint are dry. the green splinters on the top grey have been applied with an old hard brush, perfect for splintering

but now i realised that im gonna have to add a few drops of paint thinner to my black paint, after 21 hours of drying, the tires were still wet. but they are in place now.

pics to follow later  ;D

Damn that looks fast - I hadn't realised how sleek the canopy line is.

Nice one Nils - good job on the intakes!
