Hey Guys, just had a Thought.  What If the TU-22 were Built as a ZELL Interceptor for Point Defense use?????? got inspired by a Few Posts here & it was a Question that had been in the Back of My Head for a While. let me know what you think. Thanks for Looking. Dan

Sounds interesting.  But I wonder if it might be more appropriate to use a Tu-28 "Fiddler"?  It's just about as big as the Tu-22 and is already designed as an interceptor?

And you going to need some pretty big rockets to launch that size beast.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

You might be better off attempting to launch it vertically, attached to a large rocket, a la the Space Shuttle.  Just because the rockets necessary are going to be soo big.
