Once you've visited the land of the Loonies, a return is never far away.....

Still His (or Her) Majesty, Queen Caroline of the Midlands, Resident Drag Queen

I wonder what one of those would look like with a bubble canopy and a turbo propped engine, and some modern ordnance under the wings???

^ Think it would look a lot like the Sankas from "Sky Crawlers".

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

OOO :o
I like that, never seen one though over here, are they still available??

words just can't describe how much I like and admire this model.....just glorious and so so deft
the Shinden is a real fav of mine and I love seeing it...along with the Triebflugel and Huckbein
you've done just a great job with this plane and I have about a gazillions questions
just to kick off with: the white and yellow are superb--those colors are real hard to apply well and you've done it so well.....acrylic or enamel? white and yellow on first or on after?..and how did you prevent paint bleed?
and  and and how did to get the sharp demarcation line between the yellow and the cam near the wing root???
just love what you've done with this plane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Allan, Thanxs for the kind words.
The Paint I used are al Tamiya acrylics. The Yellow and White were painted first and then masked. After al the main colours was the red ones done. I always do my masking with Tamiya tape. thats were you get the best thin lines from (at least in my opinion).
You can better paint white and yellow in some thin misted layers so you can build it up till you get the wright colour.
ah, last but not least the wing root demarcation. If you cut up some tamiya tape in small stripes than it's easyer to aply the en the rest you can fill in.

I hope its to some use to you.

Arnold

Arnold; i´m a lover of Kyushu Shinden too. The innovations you´ve introduced are exquisite, and the finish impresive and beautiful; like the J7W2 of Swanny. I chose the canard in positive arrow for my "Kyushu Shinden J7W4" too; in contrast to the negative arrow wings. I hope to finish someday...

Please, exactly, what colours of Tamiya you´ve used for the reticulate camo? (green lines on a brown background).

Cheers
Fran

What a beauty Arnold! Far better than I can do. Love the changes you've made and the excellent paintwork. I'm currently attempting to make a contra-prop from 1/72nd Do335 propellers, what did you use for your 1/48th one?

Paul, I used the original prop. This lost three blades and it's top. The last prop is one from an old Bf-109. As wel as the propelor hub. this was slightly sanded to match the other one.

Fran, the colours from Tamiya where green (XF13) and the brown was a mix that I still hade from a Ki-46 Dinah build. It was at least XF52 (flat earth) with some lighter colour (sand? or white?).
The underside was a mix for RLM 76 (at least in my dwelling memmory).

Cheers Arnold
