I've read in a " Twilightlight 2000" gamebook of doing a black wash on Tanks, APCs, etc using Acyrilic paint. Is there a way to do it with enamel paint? So far, when i tried to- it seemed to leave a shiny finish and I've had mixed results when I apply dullcote. Any tips? Thanks

you could try it with a lot of thinner, but note that sometimes it will take longer to dry.
if you wanna try it, i recommend you test it on al old model from the boneyard first

It is usually better to make a wash using a paint different from the ones used to color the model. So when I used Enamels, used a wash of Acrylic over it- Then when using acrylics on the entire model, an oil paint wash to follow.

I have made washes using tempera paints and even India Ink and calligraphy ink such as Sumi brand. In a pinch, faber black highliter link applied to a paint mixing tray then thinned with water.

As Nils said, experiment on junk models or scrap parts to get the feel for what works.

Some things like inks are not truly black but are purple or brown when thinned.

The cool thing about using acrylic wash over enamel is that if the stuff gets outside of where you want it, the friction of a clean lint free cloth can take it away easily with just a rub or two.
