Back History:

after the Flemish Armed Forces were formed in 2006, a tender was set out for 6 new light to medium  multirole battlefield support helicopters. after an extensive trial, the Eurocopter EC145 was selected, these were modified to a similar standard as the US Army AH-72A's but with european equipment. the first unit was delivered to the 7de Batalion Steunhelikopters (7th Bataljon, Support helicopters) based at Brasschaat in january 2007. modifications included the provision of external hardpoints to enable the helicopters to be armed with rockets, gunpods and Helfire missiles. under the cockpit, a Infra-red turret was mounted for the anti-tank and reccon role. the helicopters got there first baptism to fire in august 2008 during "Operation: Storm Tide" in Madistan, where they provided medevac and air supportfor UN and NATO forces. the Flemish Land Command sent 2 UH-72VL's to the area, afther the conflict, the pilots and support crew recieved a large number of greatfull notifications from units all over the country. today the 6 UH-72s are still active in brasschaat and in may 2009 and order was placed for 2 additional helicopters.

the Model:

model is a Revell 1/72 EC-145, weapons and hardpoints are leftovers from a Revell Agusta A109LUH.
decals are custom made. the large flemish flag on the door was fitted during "Operation: Storm Tide" in order for allied forces to recognise the helicopters from the ones used by the Madistani rebbels.

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Now here's my aircraft OCD kickin' in . . . Are there EC-145s out there with the nose thimble? All the one's I've seen look like the ol' BK-117 in the nose area.
