The idea for this came about a few weeks ago with an online conversation with a gang of friends around the world..........2 americans were discussing immigration from Mexico....the guy in Texas mention how it seemed to be getting out of control, a guy in Denver mentioned that they were even experiencing a problem that far north............thats when my brain started ticking over.............specially since i know they are both anti-Obama   

heres the back story

2010 September

The states of Texas, New Mexico and Arizona have finally had enough. For years they have witnessed the increasing level of illegal immigration from Mexico, along with a rise in related crime, especially drug related...........time and again they have asked the Government for more support but now they have been told to expect a 10% cut in funding as a 'cost saving'.............they now realise Obama's promises are empty ones and they declare Independence. This causes some friction within the Union but the Government takes minimum action to prevent it. Obama doesn't want to risk any more bad ratings, as his popularity is at an all time low since entering office, by using force to stop them leaving, and so lets it happen, thinking that will not last and the three states will soon be asking to rejoin the Union. Secretly it is thought that it is allowed to happen since if successful the three States will form an efficient but cheap buffer zone between Mexico and the rest of the US. The only access route available would be thro California who refused to join the three states in their breakaway. The only action the Government take is to withdraw as much military equipment as possible and impose a half hearted trade embargo.............the three States manage to retain their National Guard elements though.

However, the three states flourish in the coming months, especially Texas with its oil reserves and its coastal ports. Aggressive patrolling of the border area drastically reduces immigration. By June 2011 the breakaway states are joined by other states who have become tired of the way the USA is run in Washington. Colorado, Louisiana, Arkansas, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and South Carolina join. Florida join as they see no benefit in being divided from the rest of the USA........the 11 newly independent States form under a loose organisation to become the New Confederate States of America, and gain a political and financial ability to deal with the Northern States and the rest of the world.

Obama's days are numbered...........he will be remembered as the President who caused the breakup of the Union.

Aircraft shown is an F16, formally of the Texas Air National Guard, now of the Republic of Texas Air Force. Used for patrolling the border and coastal areas, including protecting oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico, they would be replaced by more suitable aircraft either bought or modified in 2011.







kit is Airfix F16B in 1/72...........I hate grey aircraft so decided to base it on a modified 'Flogger' scheme used by the Aggressor squadrons....its normally a wraparound scheme but I liked the grey I used as a primer so kept it for the undersides.....

the more i think about this what-if the more i think it has merit..........the NCSA would be searching for suitable aircraft to use..........where better than scavanging the biggest plane park at Davies-Monthan in Arizona  .....Vikings in the Louisiana Navy, Huey gunships with Rebel flags on the side (thinks General Lee  )

Brilliant! Lovely model and back story. Also very plausible as there are a LOT of organisations in the US that are actively seeking ways to ceed from the union because of the way that the ~Federal govt treats the individual states. Texas I believe is one of them.
