F-89 Scorpion Q

Hey Guys, think the F-89 Scorpion would be Ripe for a WHIF?

? just something i've been wondering about. Let me know what you think & tell me if You Think the F-89 would also work for a 'Gerry Anderson' style WHIF??? stay Cool & Thanks for looking. Dan

Any aircraft that mean looking is almost a whif out of the box, but you could do a lot more with it. Hit the bench!

A simple whiff for the Scorpion would be sweeping the wings and horizontal stabilizers. Then maybe add some S.E. Asian camo and South Vietnamese or Thailand markings.

That's a gorgeous plane, but it appears to share almost no commonality with the original F-89. How'd they get away with calling it a "Delta Scorpion"?

Actually, that sounds like the mentality of the time. The Air Force couldn't get Congress to spring for North American's YF-93, so it became the F-86D. Later, when they pitched a navalized YF-100B to the Navy, they tried to get it designated FJ-5, even though it had nothing in common with the preceding Fury. If I ever get around to building my F-107-derived Super Fury, part of the backstory will be that they tried the same trick, and BuAir realized the ruse and designated it F2J.

Delta Scorpion...... I feel "uh dang" seeing the fuel-weapon-tanks of the F-89H gone, but then I can't figure out where to put those massive pods if they were to be carried over, either.

All that internal weapon carriage space actually translated to just two Sparrows...... having been used to the likes of the F-15, that is a surprise to me.
