Thanks, Harold, those are very interesting.  A quick digging on the net reveals the Vampire is a spruced up Heller kit with some photo etch.  Most opinion seems positive, except for the Saab 105.  Each come with photo etch & a a huge amount of decal options which makes them really good value, the B17 has an extra float option (great addition for the whiff spares box).  The Vampire is more expensive but they're probably paying for the license, still hell of lot cheaper than the CMR kit.

They really go the extra mile with the decal options.  The J22 has the lowest count with four, still very good since it only saw service in Sweden in a single camo scheme.  The Vampire has seven options & the B17 & Sk105 both have a very impressive nine options!

There are some sprue shots of each of the models here:

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

I bought the Vampire Mk.I kit a few years ago, I wasn't impressed by the additional sprue which was in the box.  It was all warped and had tons of flash and comparing the new wing halves with the base kit wings I figure it will be easier to fix by just cutting the wing tips off as there doesn't seem to be any other difference between them.  I don't remember the PE though, I'll have to dig out the kit and have another look sometime.
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

Mossie & all,

I'll second that about the 17!  The number of options they stuffed into that box is nothing shy of breathtaking!  Plus the kit is rather nicely done.  I picked that up via eBay some several years ago.  The seller mistakenly shipped me the Marivox J-22 kit and I liked it so much I happily paid for it as well once he'd shipped me the Saab 17.  Very nicely done over all.  And it'd be hard to find a more esoteric line of subjects rendered in such quality styrene kits

I built the Saab 104/Sk60 a couple years ago. It was a mixed bag.  It had lots of parts.  The ejection seats and cockpit were nice and turned out pretty good.  The overall assembly process was a pain in the behind.  Many of the parts didn't line up and there were no alignment pins or tabs.  The engine nacelles on the sides of the fuselage were particularly bad and I had to make alignment tabs out of sheet styrene to get it to fit together.  It took some time, but it turned out ok.  And if you want and SK60 in 1/72, it's the only game in town.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.
