Alley Cat have got some interesting conversions for the Airfix Beaufighter;

Early Merlin conversion: https://www.alleycatmodels.co.uk/bristol-beaufighter-mk2-merlin-powered-early-conversion-airfix-6624-p.asp

Late Merlin Conversion: https://www.alleycatmodels.co.uk/bristol-beaufighter-mk2-merlin-powered-later-conversion-airfix-6625-p.asp

Twin Tail Conversion: https://www.alleycatmodels.co.uk/bristol-beaufighter-twin-tail-prototype-conversion-6620-p.asp

Anti-shimmy tail wheel: https://www.alleycatmodels.co.uk/bristol-beaufighter-anti-shimmy-twin-contact-tail-wheel-6623-p.asp

Mk.I/VI flat tailplane conversion: https://www.alleycatmodels.co.uk/early-beaufighter-mkivi-conversion-6526-p.asp

it strikes me that the twin tail setup would go particularly well with a Boulton-Paul 4-gun turret as fitted experimentally to a couple(?) of Beaus.

I might have mentioned this before Alley Cat now has a range of 1/72 Avro Shackleton MkI conversions in white and grey paint schemes including the T.4 .
It's best to use the Airfix Shackleton Mk2 as the donor model as the Revell and Novo/Frog kits will need to be modified for the new parts to fit.
