Smythe Aviation has developed Austere at the request of the Zangara Airforce.  The Zangara Airforce had a large inventory of various marks of MIG 21, most not airworthy.  Smythe Aviation, using what was available, developed the Austere as a cheap n cheerful fighter... The upgrade was limited to a new engine, (economical, greater range) and 'off the self' avionics.  It is scheduled to appear at Farnborough in 2010.

I was wondering last week how that style of wingtip would look on a -21.  I can see now that it works perfectly!  Really like that camo too, great work.

Great Job    the Camo & Markings are great, were they all Paint or did you have some Decals too??????? Can't wait to see more!!!!!!!!!!!!  Dan

The camo is hand painted and the markings are out of the spares box.

I need to redo some of it as my varnish coat decided to strip some of the paint! :banghead:

Thanks for the kind words.

Looking very nice there Hman, I am thinking of doing one of my MIG-21's with the chintake, and possibly some canards.

Wicked finish to the project there, man - the cranked arrow looks good on that wingform.
