Hello dudes !

I'm a long time lurker and decided to get in ! I am in France (50km south Paris), I am 36, been modeling for 30 years and decided to give a go to Whiffin' !!! I posted before as a guest.

You have already seen one of my whif builds : http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,7426.msg97693.html#msg97693

Well here goes another current project, but as far as its background is concerned, please, no politics shift, it is just an imaginary invented future to make my model alive, Ok ?

So, first, the background ...

Afghanistan 2020
The country's almost been pacified and western armies are gone. The Afghan National Army, the police and the SWAT (wot ? yeh, Y not ?) handle the harshly established precarious peace. Leaving allies left behind some military vehicles as good will and faith in the country's future and to help the current authorities. Well, but soon spareparts were gonna be missing, so the Cy KHSI (Kabul Heavy Steel Industries) a branch of GDLS ( ;D yanks are good at that game), used in 2018 some various running vehicle modules to achieve its own... There is not many of these vehicles, however these are very efficient in national peacekeeping missions.

So the Afghan SWAT uses this FV Type 3.

This latter uses the following components :

=> One of the 6 Pzh 2000 chassis left behind by the Dutch,

=> Transmission and running gear of a russian MAZ-537 truck, available in large quantities in afghanistan and especially appreciated for its robustness,

=> A 30mm GAU8 Avenger gun (delivered by the USAF), this is the A-10 warthog gun, and spareparts are available for it as the USAF still uses the afghan air bases...,

=> A light double TOW missile launcher,

The FV Type 3 can face and back many threats, til 4 kilometers (2.5 miles). Its internal layout allows a fully equipped four men team to be transported in the back part of the fighting vehicle.

This is a proof of the legendary afgahan recovering and DIYselfing... This time it has gone industrial !  :tank:

Ok, wait no more, here comes da FV Type 3

Comments welcome ! Lemme know

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Welcome - that's the sort of thinking we like around here!

May I make a suggestion? How about an accurate, high-elevation, small calibre secondary gun: there are times when you want to swat the sniper off the roof without demolishing the school he's standing on. Just my twopenn'th....

Good idea, I'll think of it ! A .50 or .30 remote MG stand would do it...

Ah, very cool.  I would love to see that thing next to another AFV after you're done.  Next to a same-scale HMMWV or M113 or similar.  Right now it looks a lot like the VCBI, but it has to be a good bit larger than the VCBI.

Cheers,

Logan

Totally convincing!

Very nice.  Has a MAD MAX feel to it, but entirely plausible.
