Kit is Revells F1-C......renamed Trugbild....thats what babelfish translates Mirage as  .....I wasn't going to do anything for the Alternative Luftwaffe GB but I suddenly realised that I could make it fit in with my alternative time line project. I sort of had the idea to base the scheme on early WW2 Me109 camo......if I had some suitable paint it would have got a yellow nose and rudder..  .....bit of a rush job.....only started it 5 days ago, finished yesterday..........then i logged on to find the build has been extended! :banghead:........ ;D ;D ;D

Dornier-Dassualt F1-C, Luftwaffe, Polish/USSR border patrol

When the Axis Alliance over runs western Europe in 1940/41 it had a great many aircraft manufacturing facilities fall into its hands. The resourceful Germans put these to good use and in their efficient way they divide the various companies up and assign them to suitable 'mother' companies to control and guide them for the future.

For example, British facilities are predominantly divided up between Messerschmitt and Junkers..........Messerschmitt getting the 'fighter' companies of Hawker, Supermarine and Gloster, while Junkers got the 'bomber' element of Avro, Vickers and HP.....the same happens in France.....the split is between Heinkel  and Dornier.
Dornier were happy to get stewardship of Bloch as it had bomber producing lines but they faced resistance from the owner, Marcel Bloch, for a variety of reasons namely his anti Nazi feelings and his Jewish heritage. But never the less he helps Dornier produce aircraft for the Alliance.

In 1945 he renames the company Dassault in memory of his brother, Darius who assumed Dassault as his nom de guerre and died fighting in the Cote de Ivoire with a Free French Regiment

By 1948 the Dornier management have had enough of Marcel's underhand resistance and the companies endless 'problems' and slow production. He is removed with his Jewish heritage sited as a reason, he dies in Buchenwald the following year
With Marcel gone Dornier take a firmer grip on the factory, changing the name to Dornier-Dassault, making it a subsidiary, and installing a more pro-Axis management.........production speeds up considerably in the coming years, mostly through fear tactics being used on the work force.

With the blossoming age of jet engines, Dornier focuses its fighter production at the French facility

Shown is a Dornier-Dassault F1-C Trugbild, entering service with the Luftwaffe in the mid 70's, based in occupied Poland flying patrols along the 'Iron Wall' border with the USSR.
