Got a project planned for the One Week GB. Subject will be painted along the lines of the 1990 Tornado F.3 "Red Zebra" of 65 Sqn (229 OCU).

CLICKY! (for site with a couple more pics)

Question is: What red do I use? In these pic it looks like a proper red, as on the Xtradecal sheet (CLICKY!). In two other pics I have in a book, however, the colour's slightly more purple-ish.

Any ideas? Maybe even a colour recommendation (especially in acrylics)?

I'm even inclined to say the slightly purple colour looks a tad nicer.
Cheers,
Moritz

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

I remember this machine at the 1990 Alconbury show - think it was the last show held there, prior to it closing - and at Conningsby... that tone is definitely Insignia Red, not a hint of purple in it, Moritz. In dull light it will look more of a brick red, but I would go with the appropriate Hannants Xtracrylic or Xtracolour paint (dunno the number), straight from the can.

Cheers, guys!  The more I look at it, the more it looks like a proper red to me as well.

Will try to get a scan of the pics in the book once the PC my scanner is hooked to works again.
Cheers,
Moritz
