OK, I can see the saucers. But what are the long wingspan aircraft?? At first I thought "Ar-234"s, but I don't see any engines protruding under the wings. Any clues??

Radish--I think the only reasonable source of German national markings in 1/700 scale is 1/48 or 1/72 kill markings!

I think there was an Ar234 design that had the jets removed and a rocket motor in a fairing under the tail. Sure I saw it in a book some time ago, reckon the range would be very short though.

Very roughly, something like this:

I dunno...when Bonham goes for his big solo, the funnels and the mast and stuff will probably get in the way ! Nice try, tho....

Definitely got two ideas to work on now, and Thors given me great ideas for markings too. Cool.

Pit Road have done a series of 1/700 aircraft for dioramas.  Most are out of production, but HLJ have two listings for currently available sets:

WWII German Luftwaffe #01
http://www.hlj.com/product/PITS-17

WWII German Luftwaffe #02
http://www.hlj.com/product/PITS-19

They're listed as low stock.

Their 1/700 aircraft are usually pretty detailed, and the decals include national markings and some numbers.

Clear plastic.  Just paint everything but the canopy and amaze your friends!  :)

I don't know if the airplanes are Ar234s - the overall size seems a bit big for 1/700 and the wings aren't quite right. There was a proposed recon Ar234 without the jets and with a Walther engine in the tail. I think it was designed to operate as a parasite, launched from a bomber (like the DFS-228 or 346) so launching it from a carrier would not be good.

As for 1/700 aircraft - before the Pit -Road set, there was the Tsukoda set, and it was not good; the planes were more "suggestions" of the aircraft type than accurate representations. I sent Rob de Bie a scan of the Me-163 that came with the kit. There's a plane next to it on the sprue... is it a FW-190? Probably, since the boxtop shows one. I hope the Pit-Road set wasn't a reboxing!

I don't KNOW, but sincerely doubt it---the Pit Road set has several aircraft NOT in any Tsukoda range. If Pit Road was going to go to all the trouble to create new aircraft, presumably of superior craftsmanship to the Tsukodas, it would be silly to put in the old ones.

But...SOMEONE has to buy them and tell us about it!!  ;D

This may help: http://pitroad.s232.xrea.com/aircraft/s/s17.jpg

It's not all of them, and it's not the jets, but hey, you can pretty easily tell the difference between the 109's and the 190's.  :)

This is their first set of two, and I'm really doubting it's a reboxing of anyone else's planes.

When I saw the photo, I thought they were DFS-228s. But the wing planform does seem a bit off, and I
don't remember any Mistel plans for the aircraft.
