Yes redstar72, it was a computer translation (I don't speak Russian), I did think of giving it a YE code from the MiG experimental range but don't know enough about it to avoid accidentally using a real one.

You made a right decision - not to use a Ye-number. Not every MiG had a Ye-number, but only MiG-21 and MiG-25 families. The internal designations of MiG-23/27 family was totally different: fighter versions were designated "23-xx" (23-01, 23-11, etc...), while strike versions were "32-xx":

         MiG-23B - "32-24"
         MiG-23BN - "32-23"
         MiG-23BM/MiG-27 - "32-25"
         MiG-27K - "32-26"
         MiG-27M - "32-29"
         MiG-27ML - "32-29L"
         MiG-27D - "32-27"
         MiG-27R (project only) - "32-35"
