They said it couldn't be done by man, so it's probably a good thing I am basically a gorilla, cause I'm doing it!
A Mazda Carol hotrod. Scratchbashed chassis and running gear, custom interior, heavily modified bodywork. Lime green paint.
Anyways, this is the body in the kit:

And this is the photoshop mockup I did to work out what had to be changed and cut.

Here the cutting has started. I removed the nose first, then fitted the firewall for strength and cut off the front section of the doors and windshield. I added scrap styrene across the front of the rest before removing 11mm of roof and door.

Like so:

And stuck it back together

There'll be plenty more body mods to follow. I need to remove all pillars and window frames, and reshape the rear window for a sleeker look. And I need to find that Ford Flathead V8 from the Tamiya gun tractor - I think it's at the parents' place.

Cool!  When I first saw the pic I thought it was a Trabant (surely you've bought a brace of the new Revell kits???), the Carol isn't a car I knew about.  I've seen a Mini similarily shortened, you'd never need to worry about finding a parking space ever again!

Is this what you're attempting?
Mazda Carol on a blog with ridiculously long URL
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Yes, that is my inspiration. Mine will be somewhat different due to parts availability and the fact I'm using a Flathead V8 for power.

As to the trabant, well, I only found out they had been issued as a model on the weekend, and have yet to think about what to do with one.

Incidentally, I'm also posting all my model car work on the Model Cars Magazine Forum.

Has Toyworld down your way been having a sale on Cars

You are on a real Automobile (if that is what you call 'em) kick at the moment

Arii Owner's CLub at toy world? I wish. I ordered them from Hong Kong.
Mostly I'm building cars to promote them on this forum, we're getting dangerously aero-centric, and we've always been military-centric. I'm just provig whiffery doesn't have to involve weaponary.
Besides, I've always been a car builder, It's not so much that I am on a car kick as that I have come off my aviation kick and gone back to my roots.
