Nice ;D
I like flying boats, especially the seamaster, if Mach0.0001 were not the only producers of a 1/72nd scale kit I would have several in my stash by now. What scale is it Shas? I was wondering if it could get scalerama'd into a 1/72nd scale and have a tandem cockpit on it.
Cheers,
Chris.

Chris,

Anigrand do one as well, but it doesn't have the beaching trolly. Pretty pricey as well though.........  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

It's a 'box scale', typical of a lot of '50s era kits especially Revell. They made standard size boxes and then scaled the kit to fit in one. I can't remember what that one works out to, one source gives it as 1/136th. If I have the time later I'll try to measure mine and work out something. Wouldn't be at all surprised if the wingspan and length scale out slightly different.  ;D

Wouldn't be surprised :D Although the 144th Houndog looking missile does look a lil over-scale for the model, but who cares ;)

Got the above said missile painted up as a target drone and I've started painting the model itself . . . hope to have pics up later today ;)

Finished!

Only 10 P6M1s (P-6A after '62) were delivered to the US Navy at the end of the 1950s, and these aircraft were used to develop systems and tactics for using the aircraft as an Anti-Surface & ASW platform (the original role having been done away with when idea of sub-launched ballistic missiles became practical). Over time the aircraft were used as flying testbeds for the newer P6M2A (later P-6B), being re-worked with the ASW gear from the Marlin & fitted with the retractable landing gear being developed for the newer model.

These aircraft were never issued to any front-line squadrons (though briefly six aircraft were used during the Cuban missile crisis), but instead were floated around at the various sea plane bases as part of the evaluation program. When the P-6B prototypes were being delivered, some of the A models made their way to other uses, with four aircraft being modified for use as drone launchers.

These aircraft received winglets (sometimes referred to by crews as BAWs - Big A** Winglets), dorsal pylon, stabilization fins under the T tail, and had their gun turrets removed. While normally used to launch one or two Ryan Firebee drones, the Navy did experiment with using a drone based on the USAF Hound Dog cruise missile, but this didn't last long due to protests from the Airforce. These drone launching aircraft remained in service until the mid '70s, when they were replaced by a mix of P-3s and P-6Bs.

Finished in a Gull Gray/RAF sky green /Sand camo, with Black & B.A. Blue trim, markings are from all over the place. I'll try to get some better lighted pics this weekend after I get back from the hospital.
