Some tiny tanks

Speaking of which, does anyone do a kit of that insanely large tank the Germans were going to build?  The one with a battleship turret?

This obsession with big guns infers one thing about the Nazis - perhaps they were lacking something elsewhere?

I'm not aware of a Ratte in anything other than 1/720, though that looks pretty sweet.

I have the splinter one, and it usually hangs out with my Surcouf.  Spendidly insane examples of "Just put a bigger gun on it" syndrome.

The bases did the trick for me as well.

It was a great idea. I assume they are still in the Revell re-pops ?

In all of the ones I've gotten so far, yes.  I have the Chaffee and and the Panzer Jaeger IV/L 70 and they both have bases.  All one color, which was a bummer to the 9 year old in me, but the bases made me happy. :)

And obliquely back to the thread, Joe, you may want to see exactly what Airfix and RG can do for you in this scale.  Lots of older kits that you can get on the cheap and hack apart to your heart's content.

Back to the SP arty, there's a Revellobox M40 GMC isn't there?

Revell do a Hummel too.

AFAIK, other manufacturers have covered most of the WWII SP options. Certainly the Eastern Europeans have done all the Russian SPGs.

The Revell M40 is just what I'm looking for! Self-propelled artillery.
These are used by the Nieuw Amsterdam Dutch to patrol their shores and river banks in lieu of fixed fortifications that can only cover a limited area, and whose weapons can't be relocated easily. The difference is their ability to elevate for long range. They'd be paired with a howitzer-like vehicle such as the Wespe or Priest, a landship like the Sherman, a semi-tracked armoured troop carrier for the crews of the guns, and an ammo carrier. Defense in depth.

I've been fleshing out the defense concepts of some of the the various Dutch-founded cities. Amsterdam herself is old and surrounded by well-established lands, so there are a few forts with light troops patrolling inland, but well-armed forts facing the sea. CharlesStaad likes SPGs mixed with MG-armed light landships for anti-personnel and AA. Kaapstaad has chosen wheeled vehicles due to the uneven terrain of the veldt and the large open areas to cross. Singapore has rail lines ringing the shores and inland, carrying armoured trains and individual cars. The Panamas use mostly aircraft and ships and boats, while in between only ground troops, motorcycles and small 4WDs can traverse the forests around the 4 cross-isthmus rail lines.

Joe. That is almost exactly as I would imagine the defences being set up in this type of world. Hadn't figured the armoured trains, but now you said it, it's obvious

I found 1/72 armoured train models, and it just came to me that ringing the land side of Singapore with a couple lines of tracks would be an interesting defense system, more flexible than fixed forts, able to shift location of forces as needed.

Now to get to work on finishing the models, so I can buy and make some more!  ;D

this one ?

Although converting a few Dapol models might be more  cost effective

I've been looking at the UM models in the Squadron catalog, but first I will go to my local hobby shop. I always give them the first shot, and I always find something to inspire me.

Got a 1/72 Bishop SP gun and a pair of Pegasus P-245 tanks for a PW build.

Geoff

Finished the P-245 I will try to get a pic of it.

The Wooksta!

I've a pair of those Pegasus paper panzers, the Jaguarundi.  I had some strange idea for a diorama with a pair of those knocked out on a battlefield and some Daleks trundling past.  Post "Genesis of the Daleks" with the Daleks wiping out the remnants of the Thal military.  Mainly as the tanks looked alien enough.
