I'm looking for information on a prototype WW2 8 wheeled armoured car.  The information I have is a rear engined vehicle with a 75/76mm gun in the front with an open top fighting compartment.  Does anyone have any other information or maybe some pictures?  My thanks in advance!

The T55E1 3-Inch 8x8 Motor Carriage prototype was a variation on the theme (different hull shape but still built by Allied Machinery). Another 3-Inch 8x8 Motor Carriage planned (but never built) was GM's T7 based on the T13E1 hull/chassis.

The T55 was the one.  Was it real?  The model shown looks almost...comical in a way.

The Whiff World definitely needs more WWII Allied wheeled armour!

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Some more of the T55 here.

The model is different from the actual vehicle.  I wonder what could have developed from had it been accepted?

I suspect the model is a based on production drawings but the only photo is the mock up or the later E1 variant of a revised design

The model kit is a pretty good representation of the first pilot model, the T55.
The second pilot model, the T55E1, featured a major rearrangement of components
and an angular hull in place of the curved plates of the original design.
