Premise: With hot rod killing machines like the Parrot of Death (Super-Polikarpov) showing up, the idea of a bomber that can carry around it's own protection becomes very appealing.  So, at the behest of the Nationalists, the Luftwaffe revists the idea put forth by the British with the Short Mayo Composite.  If the bomber can carry the fighter along, well, combined with the speed of the DO-17, a few fighters might be all that is needed.  So operating with neglible bomb loads, these motherships end up serving as point leaders, tail guard, pretty much every possible position until someone realizes that the answer is in drop tanks and air to air refueling.  But for 2 years over Spain, the Heinkel/Dornier combination was in full force.

Donor kits: Heller 1/72 HE-112, MPC DO-17e (actually a reboxed airfix kit)

Started preliminary designs for the mounting bracket, sprayed the interiors of both planes prior to basic cockpit painting.  Pictures once it gets beyond the "I started in the cockpit..." cliche phase.  ;)

Hurry up then - this sounds cool!

Disaster struck on the last day.  The HE-112 is together, the DO-17 is together, and as I was masking windows, one of them shot into the tail section, the tape on it holding it firmly in place there.   :banghead:

That being the case, this one is getting back-burnered.  I'll try and finish it as some point I hope, as the concept was neat and I htink it would have looked cool.
