Will die without understanding this world.

Also introduced in 1984 was the Mirage G8ER, a tactical reconnaissance variant of the Mirage G8E. The G8ER lacked a radar, and instead could carry up to five cameras in its nose.

Any chance of a navalised variant?

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Need an awfully big carrier to operate it.  I considered one for my "Remember Eureka!" counter-factual story but abandoned it because of that.   Instead I had the CAAF adopt it for land duties.  :)

A dedicated strike variant, the Mirage G8D, was the final variant to enter service with the Armee de l'Air. This variant sported many of the avionics and airframe upgrades present in the G8E, as well as adding a laser range finder under the nose. It also retained the smaller radar from the G8A.

Depicted below is a Mirage G8D that took part in Operation Daguet.

According to wiki, the G8 was to be less heavy than the E2, which operate from French carriers. With the wings swept it would be narrower than the Rafale, though about 3m longer. I'll do a profile anyway, it'll look cool in Super Etandard camo.

Nice stuff!  :thumbsup:

In side profile, it looks an awful lot like a MiG-23 Flogger. Not that that's a bad thing! :wub:

What do you use for the fuselage codes below the cockpits? Is there a special font or did you have to draw this yourself?
Cheers,
Moritz

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Thanks! The font I used is the RAF_PW_ATH font I found here on Simmer's Paint Shop. It's the closest one I could find. You get a couple of alternate characters depending on if you use upper or lower case. For the hollowed out numbers, I select the whole number by colour, shrink the selection and then clear it.

Hope this helps!

One more Armee de l'Air profile, showing the G8's final operational air force deployment. This jet took part in Operation Deny Flight over Bosnia.

I like these a lot Chris! The G8D in Saudi has got to me favorite though!  :wub:

Thanks! I thought you might like that one.

Here's the last French G8 profile. A navalised variant, the G8N. This jet carried out anti shipping missions in the Persian Gulf during operation Desert Storm.

My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last forever; I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now; put out every one:
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods:
For nothing now can ever come to any good.
