What I Saw on My Holidays......

Just got back from Santorini. When we landed (at the Greek end, not Manchester) the first thing that struck me was that the airport was much bigger than when I was ther ein 1984.... Back then it was one landing strip with AA emplacements down the sides of the runway. This time there were a number of hardened aircraft shelters and what looked like a gate guardian: a T33.

When we got to Parissa I heard jet engines and there was an A7 (I think) buzzing around the hills of Santorini.

I must go and look up what the Greek airforce is operating now.

p.s. Read the book "Phoenix Squadron" whilst on the beach. Great story of Ark Royal's dash to British Honduras (Belize) in 1972 to show the flag....
If this is Upper Silesia, one can only wonder what Lower Silesia is like.
