U.S. Army staff car finished (caution real world)

Here is the 1/48 scale Tamiya U.S. Army staff car I just finished, the model was built O.O.B. including decals. A fun little kit to build and fit was perfect, an ideal break from my usual Focke-Wulfs.

I am not a big fan of ground vehicles but these Tamiya kits are so much fun to build and paint I might build a few more of them even if the subject is of little interest to me.
This staff car has a purpose, you will see what I mean when I post my new thread about Raiders of the Reich (Air Technical Intellligence) and a few of the aircraft they came accross while looking for the latest German Hi-tech equipment at an airfield.

As always, an amazing paint job and weathering! I think it'll look good next to the NAZI UFO.
Have you seen the Pegasus Alpha Centauri UFOs? They're cute and cheap and may look pretty good next to your jeep & car.They also have a much bigger one.

...in San Francisco Bay, was the main depot for shipping out and bringing back US Army guys from the Pacific. It closed down after we brought back our WW II troops and abandoned, but became a State Park, and I worked there as a Park Ranger for over a decade. We had a '41 Army staff car sitting up on blocks in what used to be the "motor pool", but it simply disappeared one night, along with a huge stash of lumber we used the motor pool building for. I guess someone with a landing craft (or beach-able barge, most likely) and larcenous intent "liberated" it!

I have been busy taking so many pics lately I forgot to get a pic of this model next to a coin. This model is pretty small, trust me!

Next set of pics will be more of the Fw 190A-10, I will post them soon.

Me too! It might take a very long time to find another job around here. The company I worked for moved away and all of us there lost our jobs.

One good thing about all this is I have a little more time to build models and take pics of them, expect to see some new pics of the Fw 190A-10 soon.

What did you use to weather the car? It's subtle but very effective.

The weathering on the staff car was mostly done with my airbrush, I used three different shades of O.D. and blended them together. I also did some dry brushing on the tire treads and the edges of the fenders. Since this was a staff car I wanted to keep it clean but at the same time have it look like it has seen some use.
