As part of my Marine contingent to Honduras, The Marines need a lot of counter insurgency and close support aircraft. To compliment their OV-10's and OA-11's, the marines acquired   several rebuilt and upgraded Grumman OV-1 M Mohawk's. The Mowhawks are a complete rebuild with many new parts, including a composite wing, more powerful engines, night flying equipment and a FLIR turret. A pair of fixed forward firing 20 mm cannon were also fitted in the place of where the OV-1a's 7.62 machine gun pods were.
The kit is the Hasegawa 1/72nd scale OV-1 a, quite an old kit and not the best to go together either as it needed a lot of work doing to it to get it to fit properly, and fill all the gaps, very un hasegawa like. I modified the kits gun pods and put some shrouded barrels in the fronts, I also made a terrain following pod for the nose from a ww2 aircraft bomb. The FLIR pod is made from an airsoft plastic BB.

Cheers,
Chris.
