Aardvark is apparently Afrikaans for Earth Pig  (speaking of which - how about someone doing a South African F-111 ).

I was thinking of cat names but those were all fighters and Grumman's only attack bird was the Intruder.  I can't seem to think of any yet, any ideas gents?

Grumman made the WWII era Avenger torpedo bomber, about as 'strike' as they got in those days.

Wasn't the triangular A-11 meant to be called the Avenger II as well? You could change history (there's a radical idea.....) and call your strike -111B Avenger II? Or maybe Invader, and I know that Douglas used that for the A-26.........?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Oh, yeah. How about Duncan?

Does Vark mean pig or piglet? Don't speak a word of Afrikaans, but it sounds a bit like German for piglet, Ferkel. Plus, Aardvark is Erdferkel in German.

   * Laotian troops called it Whispering Death
<...>

Wasn't every weapon system - ever - called Whispering Death at some point?

Have never seen a 1/1 scale F-111, but somehow I can't quite imagine it as anything at all in the direction of "whispering".   On the other hand, when dropping iron from several thousand feet up the engines may not be that audible.
Cheers,
Moritz

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Morning Gang,

I did profiles of F-111Es in SAAF Buccaneer & 'The Scheme' markings.

BTW, here's two models of mine (the second of which has F-111A wings, so that counts... sorta... maybe... ok, not, but I love posting it)

When I saw this I couldn't help but notice it has about the same wing sweep as the F-111, neat camo eh!
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike
