Hey Guys,Tell me what you think of This:What If the B-52 was Combined with Parts from the Vulcan to Create a 'Super Bomber'? Does this sound Crazy or like Something Dale Brown would Do? The Idea just struck me a Little bit ago,So i thought i'd ask. What Say You? Thanks for looking.Dan

Dan,

I think the Buff would look cool as a delta.  Need super big wings tho, given the size of the beast & the Vulcan's are blended a bit too much for my opinion.  Scale-o-rama a delta with a Buff, then you're onto a winner.  Although you'd most likely need a smoother nose profile too.

The problem with the British wing-root mounted engine style is that it wastes a lot of volume with long intake and exhaust ducts. This is particularly acute on the Vulcan where the wing root chord is so long, and as you scale it up it gets worse, probably to the point where the drag advantage of buried engines is wiped out by the lost fuel volume.

However, it would work technically, advantageous or not, so come up with a whiffy reason for doing it and go right ahead!

Hardly any scaleorama needed actually: B-52 wing area = 4000 sq.ft, Vulcan B2 wing area = 3964 sq.ft. The Buff is almost exactly 50% longer though, so maybe just swap the wings and keep the Buff's tailplane ,or maybe convert it to a Javelin-style T-delta tail.....?
