This helicopter belongs to one of the Cartel airborne brigades, that operate close to the Honduras Border, and has been in service virtually non stop for at least 10 years it is believed. Like many of the Cartel aircraft, it is made up of parts from different models sourced from all over the world.Thankfully Mi-24's are very parts compatible throughout the various marks, thus allowing this helicopter and the 3 other known "Hinds" in service......Much to the Honduras military's horror!!
The kit is the recent Zvesda Mi-24 kit with a few parts interchanged between the versions offered, and some of the parts put on "differently".
The build was pretty painless apart from the rear landing gear, which was a complete nightmare, as was the gun and pitot tube which broke off several times. But, I enjoyed building and painting it none the less.
Cheers,
Chris.
