I've been a brave boy and uploaded and appended two pictures to another post rather than upload via (e.g.) Flickr in the tried and trusted, pre-forum software update manner.

That's got me thinking about GB finished entries and how best to present both photos of completed physical builds or drawings/illustrations in GB Finished Entries and GB Vote/Poll threads in future.

Would it be better to stay with pre-forum update practice (i.e. using a third party photo hosting site) or would uploading directly to the thread be preferred?  I don't think it makes a difference in the GB Finished Entries threads as the reader can simply select and view the image(s).

But what about Vote/Poll threads?  It appears possible for moderators to download images, so in theory it would be possible re-upload them into the Vote thread - but could an image be posted into a 'candidate' line in the GB Vote/Poll template?  It might make it easier for moderators to set up votes/polls - I don't know.  Maybe one of the forum grownups could put it to the test?

My two ha'pennies of advise would be to see how the LHC Mods do their poll, and use theirs as a template.  Since, IIRC, the LHC is the first GB after the update.

I think you can make an image link to an attachment too.
Lets see, I posted a Caudron CR.714 image as an attachment some days ago. Now, an image link to the attachment:

Edit: Looks as if it works

Gee thanks. :(

Now Fred and I will REALLY have to do it properly!

Both of us have setup polls before, so I hope we can remember what we did first time around............

So insert the image link into the Poll subject line without all of the faffing associated with doing it pre-update - is that what you mean?  That could make life much easier.

I'm afraid I can't help at all with this. I may wear a Moderators Hat, but when it comes to any form of knowledge regarding the system then I'm useless. Sorry  :-\

You cannot view this attachment.

That's me on the Right.  Kit (unusually) was not wearing The Hat that day.

I dragged and dropped the pic above.  If it works with polls it will speed things up muchly.
I'll have a play when I create the one for the current GB.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

You have a volunteer Kit  ;)

Seriously I'm fascinated by this. Once it's done, assuming it works, I'll need to teach myself how to do it and write some serious "how to's" out.

Thanks Fred
