Hey Guys, just wondering if something like a 747,A380,Etc. could be used as a SEAD aircraft or would that Require something like a Typhoon,Tornado,Etc.? just a Question that popped into my Head & Thought i'd ask. Thanks for looking.Dan

Dan,

SEAD birds are by their natural tactical aircraft.  Large civilian birds would just be massive targets in any tactical modern air war environment.  I guess they could carry large amounts of ordnance (once you worked out where to put bay doors, pylons & avionics), but they'd still have a bullseye painted on 'em in the long run.

Mav's right as far as traditional SEAD goes, but how about a new concept of SEAD? The airliner is a stand-off "ringmaster", launching dozens of UAVs that first provoke the enemy missile launchers and radars into showing themselves and then eliminate them, either with conventional SEAD weapons or buy "suiciding" into them?
