Turbokat

I got the idea from an old cartoon i used to watch on cartoon network called "SWAT Kats". its about 2 freelance pilots who fight evil in a modified F-14 tomcat.  


after searching the internet for information and color shemes of the aircraft, i took an old 1/144 scale F-14 from my reserves and started work on my own version.
modifications include the 3rd engine (witch doubles as a STOVL engine à la F-35).
downpointed horizontal stabilizers and new "sharkfin" tail-rudders.
the model is fully handpainted (so no decals). i think it turned out pretty good.
i gave it my personal designation "F-14X"  B)

Im just gonna do some repainting on the bottom today, the white undercaoting still shined through the black paint. maybe i would add some weapons on the sides later  B)

REVIVAL

4 score and 1 year ago, this thread was created to show off my turbokat, last night this model was taken from the shelf and brought back to the paintshop for an upgrade, this time with an accurate paintsheme (same as in the show)

in the future i hope to buy the new revell tomcat to convert it into an exact replica of the original turbokat, meamwhile, here's version 2.0 of the original model  B)
