Truck Launched Aircraft

Is it true that the Russians had an aircraft that could be launched from the back of a truck abit like something out of MASK

Now that there is a beautiful 1/32 Piper Cub available, I'd not mind rigging up a 1/35 vehicle with  a Cub-receptive roof rack.
