Can't find it on the web but have see a new recruiting commercial showing a modified C-17 with vertical landing capability.  In the commercial it transforms back to a regular C-17 but wonder if you can mode a Globemaster into the new look.

Anyone found any pics yet?

I thought it was a new movie or a game. Until the end. It would be pretty cool though

Didn't they try something similar with a C-130 a while back, with rather catastrophic results??

The project called "Credible Sport" that was based on modifications made to the C-130 airframe which included the use of numerous rocket motors to augment the aircraft.  There are some interesting images uploaded by Batman10 to the C-130 discussion in the hot topics forum board that might interest you.

Found this one from a year ago, but it shows what appears to be a V-22:

Interesting, V-tails & unmanned flight deck.

Anyone seen the one in which the landscape looks like it's from a HALO game(would be very epic if they had a AC-130 taking out covenant soldiers ;D)?

See that? You should be doing these commercials

I did see the super future C-17 and thought it was a game commercial as well. I was laughing at how outlandish the whole thing seemed, not to mention expensive (Ever hear of a helicopter?) then realized it was a real USAF commercial. I liked that they were rescuing civvies too don't imply there is a war on anywhere by showing soldiers being medevaced  ;D

I like the way it says "It's not science fiction...."

Well actually folks, that's exactly what it is.

That's the first spot of theirs I've seen that didn't feature existing tech.

I think they recently had one showing satellites with associated real time situational awareness imagery downlinks (if memory serves) doing evasive maneuvers from space debris that were, to put it mildly, extremely "time compressed"...
