*REVIVAL*

watching a movie last night, i suddenly remembered this thread. i really hope this GB gets of the ground.
BTW, whoever gets to be the moderator of this GB (if it gets going), i was just thinking.

why dont we merge this GB with another proposed GB, i was thinking the Comic Book GB i suggested some time ago.
as a lot of movies these days are adddaption from comic books and TV shows (GI Joe, Chevalier Du Ciel, Buck Rogers, Blackhawks, the Hulk, TinTin.....)

maybe emerge it as "The Movies, TV show & Comic book GB"

on the bench:

-all kinds of things.

Looking back through the thread, the idea was to include pretty much any popular fiction, so books would be included too.  Maybe even music, I always fancied doing a diorama based on Slade's 'The wheels ain't coming down' based on their own fears of a Rock & Roll death during a tour of the US.  Although a real event, I've got an idea in my minds eye of the band boarding an over-decorated plane with one member looking suspiciously at a leak.  Probably won't do this though.

I've had another idea recently, but I'll keep it under my hat for now!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

From Psikyo's "Strikers" arcade series: P-38/P-51/F5U/A6M8/J7W/Ki-84/Spitfire/Mosquito/Bf-109/Ta-152/P-55 with a big rocket booster attached under fuselage centreline and four Me-163s as wingmen.  Well, if we merge this thread as well......

Or the MiG-29 from Dale Brown's "Flight of the Old Dog", as in real-life except for the 23mm internal gun.
To the individual soldiers, *everything* is a frontal assault!

Or a Japanese Mig-29 Protecting a USAF AWACS from North Korean fighters in "Battle Born", or a Libyan Mig-29 in the Tom Clancy novelization of "The Sum of All fears".

Japanese MiG-29?  The first I heard of such an idea in novels outside of Japanese fantasy......

Because of the events in the last book before "Battle Born", the Japanese government decided to buy Mig-29s.

Going along with the literary theme have any of you read Marooned, Cyborg, Operation Nuke or High Crystal by Martin Caidin? Caidin was an aeronautics and aviation author as well as writing fiction They have several whiffing possibilities. Marooned was made into a movie in1969 in which the stranded astonauts are rescued using an experimental lifting body type shuttle launched on a Titan 111c rocket. The other books were the basis for tv`s Six Million Dollar Man. Cyborg featured a three engined Super Vigilante which had it`s third engine in the space left by the linear bomb bay. In the same novel the hero infiltrates his way into Egypt to steal the new Mig-28 (i think) which was supposed to be a mach 2 to multi purpose strike aircraft possibly swing wing. Operation Nuke`s bad guy had his own private civil registered De Haviland DH 110 and in High Crystal our hero flies into South America in a turboprop Douglas Dc-3 with leading edge slats and with i believe Fowler type flaps to reduce the DC-3`s landing speed for use in short rough landing strips.

I just need to get this out of my head while it's intact, okay?

Model/backstory idea that could fit into Movie or Sci-Fi GB:

I was thinking about a space ship that takes the mickey out of the Millenium Falcon in Star Wars. Since the latter was allegedly based on the shape of a hamburger with a bite out of it, the Eon Turkey is based on the shape of a half-eaten hotdog. It consists of a B-29 fuselage, sandwiched between two halves of a pop bottle, suitably greeblified, with the back end cut away in an arc where the engines are.

Now that got me thinking about the rest of the movie, and in particular, parody names for the characters. The big hairy co-pilot of this ship has GOT to be called a "Nookie" and then it clicked: Carry On Star Wars  ;D

So, cast and ships (and yes, I know some of these folk died before this movie could possibly have been made, but hey, we can dream, right?):

Lou Starstrider, a lowly famboy and our hero: Jim Dale

Princess Looka: Barbara Windsor (hairdo like a cream bun..)

Henry "Hands" Ohsolo, a womanising smuggler: Sid James

Tubewhacker, a Nookie and Ohsolo's mechanic/co-pilot: Bernard Bresslaw

Grand Boff Parkin, an Imperial commander: Kenneth Williams

Barf Radar, a Judda knight gone bad: Windsor Davies ("I find you lack of faith disturbing, you 'orrible little man!")

Wobi An "Ben" Tabbitt, a Judda knight in exile: Frankie Howerd ("I am Wobi An Tabbitt, but you can call me Ben",
"Ben Tabbitt?", "What? Eh? Cheeky Devil!")

I8-2Q4AP, a protocol droid: Charles Hawtrey

T4-2, a maintenance droid: (special effects)

"Hands" Ohsolo's ship: the Eon Turkey

Imperial Tie fighters: shaped like bow ties

Rebel R-Wing fighters: "What are those over there?", "They're R-Wings", "What! Our wings should be on our ship!"

Work in progress - thank you and goodnight! Badoom tish!!!!
