Spotted this really old what if model in the nice Great War Museum in Caledon (near Toronto, Canada). The text says it all:

Nifty find indeed.  Thanks for sharing.  Reminds me of the photos that circulated around the place when McDD were flogging their F-15 to all & sundry.

12-13 years ago (I think) I visited the The Royal Military Museum in Brussels which is one of the old museums in Europe, in a style a la Crystal Palace. They have a nice airplane collection too http://www.klm-mra.be/klm-new/engels/collecties/vir_luchtvaart/index.html
and I remember there was a showcase with some old airplane models from the dawn of the aircraft modeling. I'm not sure what models were there, but I'm absolutely sure the one above is the oldest "what if" model I've ever seen.
Anyways if someone from Belgium is writing here and if he/she can provide some photos of those old models in the Royal Museum (I hope they are still there) we all can enjoy some more "whatifing" from the old times. ;D
