Its not even well mounted.  At that price I'd like a nice piece of stained and varnished Oak, with a brass name plate.

Cough splutter - I used to have a warehouse full of stuff like that! TSR.2 my hairy butt! Can he actually prove it's from a TSR.2, or has even been through the same factory as one? I think not, otherwise he'd be claiming such a thing....

We used to have a packet of small screws in the warehouse at Woodford which were wrapped in greaseproof paper and marked "De Havilland Aircraft - 1967"......

id happily mount one of the pile (of 2 types and guarenteed genuine spares for use on TSR.2) i aquired from Cosford years ago on a piece of varnished english oak with a brass personalised plate for anyone that would part with £28.99 (post free) hehehe!

 sigh the good old pre RAFM. days when Cossie' was known as the 'Aerospace Museum' and the airframes were properly maintained by the RAF. bods from No.2 SOTT. next door

Oak IIRC is a light coloured wood.  Most Oak pieces of furniture are stained with a dark stain and then varnished, with further darkens its colour.  Then there is the patina of age as well.
