Heinkel He-121 Stratospheric Fighter

Fantastic work, SR! I particularly like the profile view - that shape is wonderful! In fact I think a "normal" fighter version with shorter wings would also look great. I might have to find a funny-scale He-111 and try something similar.

PyroM--thanks. I made a whif 1/72 "Argentine Trainer" from a 1/144 He-111, the current "Soryu" from a 1/100 He-111, the venerated "He-211" from several different 1/72 He-111 and He-111Z's, and soon the 1/64th Lindberg one will be encapsulated in a whif, too! I think the 1/48 version is just too big for ANYTHING I would do. I'ts POSSIBLE that some of the "toy-like" ready-made aircraft minitatures might have a 1/100 or so Heinkel He-111, but I think the Faller kits would be too rare (check on EBay!). I'd love to see what you come up with.

Dang that worked out nifty I think it is entirely plausible Outstanding execution.  Even though you are not happy with the exhaust it is a wartime expedient so ef it this is just the way this version turned out

  Excellent finish, Ranger! I see what you mean about the exhausts. I think going with a smaller diameter tube
would have helped a bit, but the way you set about attempting the effect seems sound enough. One minor
disappointment in an otherwise excellent build ain't a bad score

  Look for some long-winged birds from me in the year ahead.

Thanks. Welcome to the madness of the site. My paints are all custom-blended colors, and all enamels (just CAN'T adapt to acrylics!). The Dark Blue undersides, though, was a "standard" Floquil Railroad color "Dark Blue", but the blue-gray is just self-titled "F4F" because I blended it to use on a Wildcat someday (it's blue, white, black, and a dab of green). I painted black for the "cities" and oversprayed with a pattern of "F4F", put some "metallic blue" rivers in (and oversprayed them with "F4F") and used some Model Master "Pale Green" for the "agriculture" hexes on the top. I deliberately made all the colors the same "tone" to give slight variation to an otherwise bland, single-color camo, but I think the blend of colors is subtle and suitable.

PACO--I didn't put the white "band-aid" on the top wing to aid in obscuring the aircraft from B-29 bomber's view from above. I studied several "band-aid" schemes, and there were some that had side-and-bottom only, so I am not out of regulation! I did put the white band-aids on the sides and bottom wing because, though spoiling the camo effect, Japanese ground-gunners were more important to alert.

The light blue over dark blue looks fantastic, and I like the little outrigger landing gear on the wings.
