Should be Ok to operate the types Escort Carriers used , as long as its got an pneumatic catapult, arrestor wires and a Barrier or two. Wildcat, Dauntless, Swordfish would be fine.

The Aoshima IJA light Carrier Akitsu Maru which is sort of an early assault ship ( - Flight Deck, Army Aircraft, Dock !! ) has a STOL recon plane and Autogiro aircraft as its air group.

Like the Hybrid Jean Bart, be interesting to see a full Aircraft Carrier conversion at some stage, possibly inspired by the Joffe design.

Plus, the rotodyne is going to be a cast iron #$%^& to make in 1/700 scale. I have a few thoughts on making something similar, I mean, did turn a B-17 into an autogyro, so this shouldn't be too different, right?

It's got a square section, straight fuselage with the nose and tail rounded off, and the wings are planks. OK, the rotor might be a bit of a pain but the 'dyne is a pretty straightforward shape really.

The Fuselage looks easy, yeah. It was the part you mentioned, and the wing pod nacelles that are slowing me down. I have a similar stalled plan to make those weird helicopter F-104 Starfighters for another project, and again, I'm probably just letting myself get intimidated by the work.

BTW: I got that interesting book too  . And I do love your Jean Bart.

Oh yeah, I love that build of yours, I'm hoping you crank out more ships as your stuff is awesome.  :D

IIRC there is, at least as a definition, a special kind of powered rotor autogyro. No?
Will die without understanding this world.
