Swept back is very sleek and sexy, but I'd vote for swept forward. Perhaps at slightly less of an angle?

How about the tail planes sweeping forward ?

Since it's a Republic job, why not slit the swept wings from root to tip at max thickness, then insert a triangular plug to make them inverse-tapered, like the XF-91?

Don't let the fact that I've been contemplating doing this, but would love to see someone else find all the pitfalls first, sway you in any way, of course....

I've also been contemplating doing the prop-mod on a straight-wing F-84G: great minds etc....
