This is a call for expressions of interest in a possible model build for next year's centenary celebrations of the founding of Sopwith Aviation in Kingston, England, and its successor companies there - Hawker, Hawker Siddeley & British Aerospace.

A number of events are currently being planned (see http://www.charitiesdirect.com/charities/the-kingston-aviation-heritage-project-1068247.html) but the organisers would like to run a model build and display, probably over the bank holiday weekend 2-5 June 2012. Not strictly 'Whif' but those would be welcome - I'm not on any other modelling boards so thought I'd ask here first.

Surely Camels, Hurricanes, Harriers etc. could get a good number of folk interested?

Please post if you are!

I'd be most interested to see the Hawker  Harlot, its First World War predecessor the Sopwith Strumpet and possibly even the BAe Bawd of the Cold War..........

I'm game although logistics wise the Diamond Jubilee long bank holiday may just price out those not local enough to commute, Especially with the Olympics round the corner too.  :banghead:

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I might be able to provide storage/transport for the Lancashire mafia.

I have in my care a number of Geoff's older Hawker-Siddley scratch builds. So getting them down to Kingston isnt going to be much of an issue.

Now if the Wooksta could release his vast fleet of Hawkers on detachment, Im sure we could put on a great display for em
I always hope for the best.

I may consider it but would be open to bribery...

What medium of exchange should we be contemplating?

Nice idea.  Is this purely limited to aircraft built at Kingston & if so, does anyone know of a list?
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Thanks for the replies.

I'll point the organisers at this thread and see if they have ideas re venue, accommodation etc.
