First off, this is not What If stuff so if the mods need to move it, feel free.

In 2005, a guy my Dad knows, went to Iraq.  Tom Humes was a Blackhawk pilot with the Delaware Army National Guard.  He started sending pictures and stories to my Dad who, of course, forwarded them on to me.  When I started asking questions, Dad put me in touch with Tom.  Tom agreed to let me publish his pics on our clubs (now defunct) gallery.  These were pretty popular at the time so I finally started putting them up on one of my Picasaa Web sites.  Been working on this for 2 days and still have another 20+ emails to go thru.  I have added Tom's commentary to some of the pics and my own take on some of the others.  He did a pretty good job identifying most of the stuff but I did get to help him with a few.

Very interesting - thanks for sharing.

This one photo and the associated caption "TIE fighter pilots spotted in Iraq" could form a whiff scenario just by itself  ;D:

Anyone want to model/profile an Iraqi TIE Fighter?

Obviously refuelling from the pipes on the ground.  Interesting masks.  Never seen that type before.

But did the Blackhawk make it through the arch???
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Neat shots!  What's the skinny behind those TIE Fighter helmets?

HGU 56. They guard the face from high winds, derbis, etc. Required on the latest USMC version of the Huey and all other helicopters that exceed a certain speed with the doors open... I want to say 150 knots but I could be wrong.

I have an old tie interceptor on a shelf somewhere i was abusing for paint testing... It may just get a sand scheme over the weekend now you've started me off...  ;D
