I converted the Polar Lights Enterprise to a Scout ship (should have numbered it NCC 793 history fans) next one is going to be done as a Coventry class (a bit like an early Reliant) USS Newcastle NCC 1955 and possibly a USS Dunston Excelsior WMC to follow.

What is this? A circular wing huge plane? Or a tiny part in a machine? (Pardon the foolish question if the answer is very obvious).

It's a starship!

Actually, this would be a little more appropriate in the Gallery of my other hobby site: Starship Modeler (It's not MINE, per se, it's just the other place I hang my hat.)  Onezero would be happy to find another scifi modeler out there.

It's not exactly "what if".  The design isn't "canon" (ie, having appeared in a movie or tv show), but it appeared in the Franz Joseph Designs "Star Trek Tech Manual" in the 70s.

Lazlo, is that the PNT Models conversion kit, or did you bash that one yourself?

Heh, if you look at the old StarStation Aurora drawing set that introduced the Coventry class, you might see a familiar name as the designer.

Sweet!

I'm currently bashing together a Galaxy class dreadnaught (Next Generation shape Enterprise) with 3 engines and a Batmobile Police car as my initial sci-fi what ifs :P

Thanks for the comments, it's just a kit bash as its not easy to get Star trek its or conversions in the UK without paying through the nose for them.

Hopefully Polar Lights will get the molds to the movie and Next Generation kits as well and then we can go Trek mad :D

Thomas Sasser is currently modeling the master for the Movie-era Enterprise refit.  I'll see if I can scrounge a link to the pictures.  It's 1/350, same as the current PL NX-01.  The details include a shuttlebay and arboretum.  It's sweeet!

Coventry-class  was originally drawn up as the "Heavy Destroyer class of 2253" (or roughly that date, I'd need to dig out the original sketches to tell for certain) and submitted to StarStation Aurora where it appeared in one of their drawing sets.  It was subsequently picked up and detailed in Ships of the Star Fleet, Vol. 1.  It was deliberately designed as the ST:TOS tech-level ship from which the Reliant-class evolved in the time of ST:TMP.

As for modelling ST:TOS tech-level ships, I've some 10 or so of the original AMT kits salted away for when time permits.

Captain Canada

Looks good...pretty dark, tho !

I wouldn't know the difference between the classes anyway. I always like the landing ships the best.

Cheers !
