Wasn't there a die cast model/toy of this as well ?

One day I will try a card model - the display at Milton Keynes modelshow is always inspiring

Kit, I was just thinking that I may have missed your point. :-\

Um, somewhat confusing but...

As I see it, if you are doing a model of the movie prop, that is not a WhIf - the prop existed; if, on the other hand, you are doing a model of the functioning, operational aircraft that Spielberg imagined, then it is a WhIf (just as the film version was a WhIf, Spielberg's 1:1 scale semi-functioning WhIf).

Also, your WhIf of Spielberg's idea would be no less valid than Spielberg's; just, maybe, not quite as big.

Guys, you are over-thinking the question, any fictional machine is by default a Whif, regardless of media.
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Would mean that a Hispano Buchon in a Luftwaffe colour scheme would be a Whiff?

The real thing not only existed, but it flew as well............
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Well, it's not a fictional aircraft is it?
That is a case of playing dress-up, while the wing from Raiders is a fictional creation.

Ron Cobb borrowed from the Northrop N1M when the created the original design, but
the as-built prop that appears in the film is not, and never was, a real aircraft.

Semantics, shemantics......  ;D

I don't care that much, I love the thing, and if I can rake up the readies I'm going to get one.

This paper model has really started some discussion on the Bv 38.  I guess I look at modelling as a hobby - I don't get caught up in details such as the truth, accurate decals or is it really a what-if.  For me, this is a fun pastime.

For those flush with cash, there is a resin Bv 38 in 72 scale on ebay for about $200 US - depending on the country's currency conversion - PASS for me, I'll let some other lucky modeller snaffle that one up.

There are lots of images on google (search images) so for me, looks like a conversion in 48 scale using a junked Horten and bits from the spares box - some time in the future.

cheers

Cheaper (but not cheap) to buy it direct from Starship Modeler (US$115).

There was a plastic toy of the BV-38 that was only available at either Disney World or the MGM theme park in Florida

Here s one for sale on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/INDIANA-JONES-Micro-Action-AIRPLANE-DISNEY-Exclusive-/120720538573?_trksid=p4340.m263&_trkparms=algo%3DSIC%26its%3DI%252BC%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%26otn%3D10%26pmod%3D170624155813%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D8964413305220408015

It s quite good for 1/72 scale; obvously needs some work done on it, but worth it if you don t want to spend too much on the Black Sun resin kit...
