On Saturday 21st May the IPMS UK will be holding their annual AGM at the Tank Museum, Bovington, Dorset. Free Entry for all current IPMS UK members. You have to attend the meeting for a couple of hours but you do get to explore the museum for free!

I want to go but can't really justify the petrol costs for myself alone. Does anybody want to go down there with me and share the costs?
I live in Essex and can pick up (very early!) from Herts or London, returning late that night. PM or email me if interested.

Train costs are a bit cheaper but would take me 4+ hours as opposed to a 3 hour drive.

The Wooksta!

Nick, just wander the museum and leave the IPMS politics for those who go.  Seriously.  I've been to several of these AGMs and they really are a tiresome waste of time and money.

Last one I went to in Birmingham (I think!) had me falling asleep or wanting to punch the wafflely types who'd go to the far end of the world.

Booger - I'll be in Cardiff the night before for the Amlin Cup Final, traveling back Saturday otherwise I'd take your offer up Nick. It's the Hendon Show the day after as well
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Just bumping this up in case anybody who can join me has missed it before.

If it wasnt for the Hendon show on Sunday, I would be going.

as much as Bovington is a great museum, On fuel costs alone Hendon wins hands down with me
I always hope for the best.

Yeh, the Tank Museum is not exactly central within the U.K.
It is realy going to cut down on the number of members who can be there.

at least these days they are moving the venue each year. Last year was just down the road from me at the Shuttleworth collection, the year before it was at Doncaster Aeroventure. Give it time and im sure it will be within reach of the northern based memebers
I always hope for the best.

If people want the AGM held near them then they'd better find a few suitable locations and tell the IPMS Committee. Bovington will attract the armour crowd and the south coast members. Shuttleworth got the London & Midlands residents and classic aircraft crowd.

A military / aviation / motor vehicle museum with a reasonably priced meeting room to hold up to 100 people and willing to allow free or very cheap entry to those IPMS UK attendees would fit the bill nicely.

If you think I'm being a bit obvious then sorry but it comes from a tedious meeting at work last week. Somebody was moaning about how all the staff events involved going for a drink (fair comment) but when asked, had no idea what we could do instead. 20 minutes of hearing her say she didn't like bowling or ice skating or going to the cinema or.... etc etc really did my head in.
