Fairey Aviation's research into delta wing aircraft led them to develop a delta wing airliner.  
The Finisterre billed  as "taking you to the end's of the earth" could carry 72 passengers. Fairey also had an eye on the military market  and the Finisterre could carry  68 troops, 54 paratroops, 48 stretcher case.  It would be able to carry nearly 20 tons  of freight and British Army vehicles would fit into its fuselage. Experience gained in building the Finisterre was later  applied to the company's Rotodyne with which it shared several features.  Following design problems with the original engines Napier Nomads it was equipped with 4 x Bristol Olympus.

Given Fairey's close connections to the Belgium government SABENA was a natural customer and along with BOAC was one of the first airlines to buy the Finisterre

The Finisterre was developed for RAF use into the Fairey Cormorant. The Cormorant inherited the name Shagbat from the Supermarine Walrus once aircrew realised the connection between Cormorants and Shags. This connection earned it several other names most of which were unrepeatable in polite company

Well now, that's an interesting little beast, isn't it!  Reminds me of a lot of the concepts that were bandied around in the Sixties - it also reminds me of some stuff from Thunderbirds.

interesting and original design, it sure looks like something from the Gerry Anderson universe.

not to be negative here, but even though i like the idea, i dont see how this fits in the '1946 universe

The original plan was to finish it as an aircraft of RAF Transport Command in an extended WW2 scenario  but I ran out of time  for a 2 tone paint job and was in such a rush to finish  especially after a wing fell off I  forgot to think through the wider implications of the changes. I just got carried away in getting it finished for the deadline

after some review and judgement, i am very sorry to say that this model is no longer eligable for the '46 group build, as it does not imply with the GB rules

2. models or profiles of any class (aircraft, armour, ships,...) are alowed, preferably equipment build and introduced between 1940 and 1950, beyond that is alowed as long as the fit in the '46 universe and are WHIF.

it was a very difficult desision to make, but since the aircraft fley in 1952 and entered service in 1954, it doenst exactly fit in with the other entries, my apologies
